Functionalist.

An unsystematic outpouring of enthusiasm/anxiety from m36 Dublin, Ireland.

Why it can only be ‘Yes’.

Another treaty? Yeah… but now with even more nonsensical arguments for voting ‘no’.

Have you seen Greece?

That’s Ireland if our benevolent overlords in Berlin ever feel like ditching us.

So, this is a fairly simple choice.

‘Yes’ sends a signal that we’ll play the game.

A petulancy inspired ‘No’ is us throwing our toys out of the cot, poisoning the well of German, French, Dutch and Finnish public opinion and making it very very difficult for our overlords to continue to be nice to the pixie-headed-fucks (us).

Don’t give me the wrap the green-flag-round-me-boys-Irish sovereignty-patriotism claptrap.

4.5 million bankrupt outliers cannot - and will/should not - be allowed dictate to the Euro core.

There’s a dose of realism that’s required: where is fucking money coming from?

That’s the simple real-politick, the more we isolate ourselves with infantile outbursts of  outmoded eco-nationalism that simply doesn’t, can’t, won’t, will-never add up, the more difficult it’s gonna get.

Despite the sunshine, there is going to be a winter of discontent the likes of which will define this country for a generation. If we vote no it’ll be worse. I’m not optimistic mainly because the fact remains: we live in a Banana-Republic, where monkey’s governed for far to long. We voted for them from 1997-2011.

The political blame rests with the people, not this government, not with Europe.

That’s an unpopular opinion, I know, but as a society we are reaping the whirlwind of voting for Fianna Fail, voting for an unsustainable, blind taxation policy and a Charlie McCreevy inspired version of gombeen neo-liberalism that as far back as 2004 thoughtful people were poking holes in.

To those who want to be Iceland, I say, we are not comparing apples with apples.

Iceland is 300,000 people. Iceland had/has a robust social culture of excellent schools, health-service and low stealth taxation at the time of it’s collapse.

Economically, we cannot be Iceland because we’ve a creaking infrastructure, a broken social system and a failing education system.

There’s also 450,000 people unemployed. More than the population of Iceland.

Add to this Hiberno-Anglo-Saxon greed, corruption and societal-selfishness as opposed to Nordic solidarity and you’ll see why socially/morally, we can’t be Iceland either.

Ireland is bankrupt both morally and economically and voting No will do nothing, nothing, to reverse this trend. It’ll only amplify the effects of austerity.

Another reason why am I voting yes is Sinn Fein, the hard-left, the hard-right, crypto-Catholic republicans, atheistic union bosses and crazy people who talk to their curry chips are all advising me to vote ‘No’.

I don’t know why exactly. This is just too fucking cool not to repost.
